Realtime kanban board management for task tracking with a multi-level hierarchy and advanced markdown support.
4ga Boards is a self-hosted web application for realtime project management. It uses a kanban system to track tasks and organize workflows through a structured hierarchy of projects, boards, lists, cards, and tasks. This structure allows users to manage everything from high level project goals down to individual task items within a single environment.
The software is deployed as a server application, with Docker Compose as the recommended installation method for quick setup. It also supports deployment via Kubernetes, TrueNAS, or manual installation for those requiring specific infrastructure configurations. Users access the system through a web browser, where the interface provides updates in real time without requiring page reloads, facilitating immediate collaboration between team members.
The application is built using a modern tech stack consisting of a React and Redux frontend and a Sails.js backend, with PostgreSQL serving as the primary database. It includes multitasking capabilities that allow users to edit cards and filter the board simultaneously while maintaining local changes to descriptions. To ensure data persistence and recovery, the system provides built-in shell scripts for backing up and restoring instance data. The interface is designed to minimize clutter, utilizing a wide screen layout and keyboard shortcuts to increase navigation speed.
4ga Boards is designed for individuals and teams requiring a structured, self-hosted environment for agile task management and collaborative project tracking.
