Domain Locker is an open-source, self-hosted application that serves as a central hub for tracking domain name portfolios. It analyzes added domains to fetch associated data and continuously monitors them to provide visibility into expiration dates and configuration changes. The software is deployed as a web application, typically using Docker for self-hosting, though a managed instance is also available for those who prefer not to maintain their own server infrastructure.

Users can manage multiple domains in one place, tracking technical details and financial records without needing to log into multiple registrar dashboards. The application automates the collection of domain data and sends notifications based on user preferences to prevent accidental expiration or undetected configuration shifts. It is designed for individuals or organizations managing a large number of domain assets across different registrars and hosting providers.

Key features

  • Automated fetching of SSL certificates, hosts, registrars, IPs, and DNS records
  • Configurable alerts via webhooks, email, SMS, Slack, Telegram, and WhatsApp
  • Tracking of purchase prices, renewal costs, and domain valuations
  • Monitoring of website uptime, health, and performance
  • Change history logs for domain configurations over time
  • Programmatic data access via REST or GraphQL APIs, RSS, and iCal
  • Portfolio analytics and visual breakdowns of domain providers
  • Support for SSO, 2FA, and multi-language localization

The application is built with Angular, using Analog and Nitro for the server and PrimeNg for components. It utilizes a PostgreSQL database to persist domain data and monitoring logs. The system relies on periodic cron jobs to trigger domain updates, monitor uptime, and aggregate performance data. Integration options include Prometheus for metrics and various external analysis services for WHOIS and DNS data. Users can further enrich their data by adding custom tags, notes, and linking related resources to specific domains within the interface.

Domain Locker is positioned as a management and monitoring tool for domain portfolio owners.
