Plug-N-Meet is an open-source, self-hosted web conferencing system designed for integration into existing websites and applications. It provides a scalable infrastructure for video and audio communication, utilizing a server-client architecture to manage virtual meetings and collaborative sessions. The software allows administrators to host their own communication environment, ensuring data remains under their own control while providing a professional interface for participants.

The software is deployed as a server application and accessed via modern web browsers, requiring no downloads for end users. It supports various deployment methods, including Docker and manual installation scripts, and provides SDKs for JavaScript and PHP to facilitate deep integration. Ready-to-use plugins are available for platforms such as WordPress, Moodle, and Joomla, as well as LTI support for compatible Learning Management Systems.

Key features

  • AI-driven live spoken translations, real-time transcription, and automated summaries.
  • Support for simulcast and dynacast with H264, VP8, VP9, and AV1 codecs.
  • Collaborative whiteboard with support for PDF, DOCX, and PPTX files.
  • End-to-End Encryption (E2EE) for media and data channels.
  • SIP Gateway for telephone dial-in access to meeting audio.
  • MP4 recording and RTMP/RTMPS broadcasting to external services.
  • RTMP/WHIP ingress for integration with production tools like OBS.
  • Breakout rooms, shared notepads, and polling tools.

The system architecture consists of three core components: a Go-based backend server for business logic, a React and Redux frontend client, and a dedicated recorder application for media management. To function, the system requires a LiveKit instance for WebRTC infrastructure, Redis for caching and messaging, and MariaDB or MySQL for data storage. Optional dependencies like libreoffice and mupdf-tools are used to enable office file support within the whiteboard. The inclusion of an Artifacts API allows the AI agent to deliver meeting intelligence and action items directly to the user interface.

Plug-N-Meet is intended for developers and organizations that require a customizable, private communication layer with integrated AI capabilities and professional broadcasting tools.
