WorkAdventure is an open-source web app enables the creation of customizable collaborative virtual worlds. It provides a spatial environment where users navigate with avatars to interact with colleagues, clients, and partners in a digital representation of a physical workspace.

The platform is deployed as a server-side application and is accessible via desktop, mobile, or tablet browsers. It supports two primary production deployment methods: Docker Compose for simpler setups and Helm charts for Kubernetes environments. This flexibility allows organizations to host their own virtual office infrastructure on their own hardware or cloud providers.

The software is built with TypeScript and focuses on replicating spontaneous office interactions in a digital space. Users can build their own maps using dedicated documentation to tailor the environment to specific organizational needs, allowing for the creation of specific rooms, hallways, and meeting areas that mirror a real office layout.

For development and testing, the platform includes an OIDC mock server to facilitate quick setup. The architecture relies on several components including Traefik for routing and Redis for data management. This modular approach ensures that the virtual world can scale according to the number of active avatars and the complexity of the uploaded maps.
