Claper is an open-source web application designed to facilitate real-time interaction between presenters and their audiences. It functions as a server-based tool that allows speakers to integrate feedback mechanisms into live meetings, speeches, and presentations. By transforming a standard presentation into a two-way communication channel, the software allows for a more dynamic exchange of information between the person speaking and the people listening.

The software provides a dedicated interface for both the presenter and the participants. Presenters use the tool to gather immediate data and engagement to make their message more unique, while participants use the platform to take an active role in the meeting. This setup ensures that every attendee can contribute their perspective and feel useful during the session. The application is deployed as a web server, making it accessible via a browser for all participants regardless of their device.

Key features

  • Real-time audience feedback collection
  • Interactive presentation tools for live meetings
  • Participant engagement interfaces
  • Multi-language support including English, French, German, and Spanish
  • Additional language support for Dutch, Italian, Hungarian, and Latvian
  • Web-based deployment for remote or local access
  • Support for live polling and audience interaction

Claper is built using the Elixir programming language and the Phoenix framework, which are specifically chosen to handle the concurrency and low latency required for live interactions. The frontend is styled using Tailwind CSS to ensure a consistent user experience across different screen sizes. The project is distributed under the GPLv3 License and encourages community contributions through a standard fork and pull request workflow. This technical stack allows the application to scale its real-time capabilities as the number of participants in a live session increases.

This tool is intended for public speakers, educators, and meeting facilitators who require a structured method for gathering live audience input and increasing participant activity during a presentation.
